Best gear for a 100-mile hike in the summer? - trail running gear

Imagine that you are free up to 100 miles a week, equipment was diligent progress. You try to discreetly and have so little contact with other people as possible this week. A large part of the hike will be cross, but a little good will on the road.

What brand and size bag would you choose?

What type of shoes (brand and model) is used? For example: New Balance trail running shoes or hiking boots Montrail. (Enter the name of the model, if you prefer.)

What to do protection and sleeping bag? Tent or hammock? What should I do? Sleeping bag or just a blanket? (Remember, this is a summer tour.)

Would you bring on a camping stove, and if so, which model?

What kind of tools, personal care and cleaning products, which take the time?

What clothes do you wear: cloth, cut, color?

What kind of foods and beverages you consume, and how?

What does all this volume of material and weighs? Can I both in the package?

I have no 93-mile Wonderland Trail around Mount Rainier last summer. Much of what you ask, depends on where you wander. Is it likely that the cold night? Can the weather (we had an avalanche of snow) in August? The amount of length and is very well maintained hiking trails or climb out through the growth of heavy machinery and in the hills?

There are many personal preferences, things like that, but here are my selections:

Packs - For easy and fast, I love my Kelty Shadow. It is very easy, but it's still a lot of pockets and padding. The land of miracles had, I mean great Kelty 50th Anniversary Special (6500 cubic inches) external comfortably handled a load of 50 pounds in the long lines. While you speak, you must pay at least 25-30 pounds, and probably need at least a pack of 4000 cubic inches.

Shoes - Having a wide range of hiking boots with different results, in Kings REI, which proved to be processed as a comfortable and durable. If you carry a heavy backpack, do the ankle and arch support of a hiking boot. Andor call for a departure track, the racing driver. Walking sticks can be a lot of tension in the knees and legs.

Stove - JetBoil is the greatest invention since the looting of Goretex. One of these puppies can a liter of water to boil for 2.5 minutes, much less fuel and Nice will need luggage. I left the camp cook completely and there are only a JetBoil with dry food.

Water - water is heavy. You do not want more than one gallons at a time (less wear, if you can). When you are away from civilization, you have to filter water from rivers and lakes. I love my backpacker Sweetwater filter, because it is easier to pump and easy to clean. I have most of my water in a 3-liter Camelbak bladder (maximum capacity, minimum weight) with an additional 1 liter Nalgene bottle to drink in the camp.

Remember, electrolytes (salts and minerals you sweat). Some people carry packets of Gatorade or Gookinade, but they can heavy and unwieldy for the extra sugar and flavorings. Elete Electrolyte Concentrate contains enough drops to 16 liters in a small botTLE size box of Tic-Tac.

Clothing - Avoid cotton. It is not treated quickly. Synthetic fabrics (nylon bags) are the way to go (but be careful) around the fire, because it dries quickly and dries the moisture. The zip-off pants can be shorts are ideal for backpackers. Avoid too much clothing - mix and match, so you dress in layers, depending on time and always stay dry at all costs game, you take your tent (wet = cold). Invest in a good rain shell () waterproof, comfortable, breathable. Marmot has the right - it REI.

Tents and sleeping bags - if you can be hot all the time, you're probably with a small bag of blankets and an emergency situation, such as solar energy a setback. Many ultra-light packer will only cover with a tarp - more power to them, but I prefer some protection against insects and wind. Many of the solo trek tents only 3 kg or less (such as the Baku Sierra Design). Or the commitment and go with a bag of stock.

Depending on strength, conditioning, length can exercise conditions approximately 50 kg or less and still be happy. Less is always better. Unless you are very, very unpleasant, it would be difficult to under £ 35 for a trip to the trip several days, "preserved.
