What is the best way to hook up a HDTV, DVD Recorder and a Cable Box? - best dvd recorder of october 2009
This is what I have to work with:
1. HDTV with HDMI input
2. Cable box (DVR) with built in HDMI
3. Upscaling Player / Recorder - with HDMI
Each room has additional standard inputs and outputs.
I am sure I the best HD picture quality with the ability to record to my DVR from my DVD recorder.
What would be the best way to hook them up without having to invest in more equipment? I am willing to buy the necessary cables, but not an AV receiver or "other" type of gadget.

Can (or play record) high-definition DVD recorder in any existing DVD. So you better connect the digital recorder to the TV with the HDMI connection.
Using the component video to connect to the DVR-DVD recorder and DVD recorder to the TV. You always get a good (but not HD) DVD recordings.
I want to use the HDMI cable to connect the digital video recorder to your TV, then I use a minimum combined R, G, B (component cable) with the rest. Component cables are still a digital signal, but not as good as HDMI. The still hard to say without knowing exactly what you have entered everything in
DVR to record HD DVD, DVD players must have the components (green, red, blue) or HDMI video inputs. If you do this, it will not be able to record on a DVD with HD, but it would not be able to HD recording. Suppose you have this type of entry, eg:
1) Go buy an HDMI switch (or Best Buy, Fry's, or want to save), which were around $ 100.
2) Insert the DVD and DVR inputs switches with HDMI cable.
3) Connect the output of the switch on the back of the TV via HDMI. Connect the other end of the switch on the back of the DVD.
That's it. Sorry, but you need to buy a gadget.
